ORIGINAL STOEGER SHIPPING CRATE, HANG TAG, & 1955 DATED RECEIPT. Cal. 22 LR. S# 82740C. Bbl. 28". Model 52C bolt action target rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1956. Left side of the bbl. exhibits standard factory markings denoting the model and cal. designations. Left side of the receiver is marked with the S#, followed by a "C" suffix, with the Winchester trademark logo marked on the right. Underside of trigger guard is marked "O.T." and "PULL". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt body. which is polished in-the-white. 1-piece plain wood pistol grip stock features a steel hand stop rail on the underside of the forearm, currently fitted with a left handed aluminum hand stop. Buttstock has been shortened and fitted with an aluminum buttplate rail with removable buttplates. Toeline of stock features an inletted sling swivel, with an additional swivel fitted on the hand stop rail. Bbl. features 3 dovetail mounts for iron sight and scope attachments, the rearmost 2 mounts currently fitted with a custom scope rail, featuring 2 Warren lever scope rings. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: generic hard case containing a Schuetzen style aluminum buttplate, an aluminum and grooved black rubber Mershon Co. Sure Grip buttplate, an aluminum palm rest marked "WP/ 3 29 58" on the left side with Canjar dovetail rail mount, a Lyman No. 77H globe front sight, a Lyman No. 525 large disc adj. aperture rear sight, as well as the cut section of wood from the butt. Rifle is also accompanied by an original wooden shipping box from Stoeger Arms Corp, exhibiting handwritten text in black ink on the lid that indicates shipment to Schiedermayer's Hardware Company in Appleton, WI. Additionally, this example is accompanied by original paperwork consisting of the matching factory box end label, original factory hang tag (detailing the trigger assembly), as well as 2 "1955" dated receipts from Schiedermayer Hardware Company, one listing this rifle by S#. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light superficial scratches and handling marks overall. Bolt knob shows some light wear and thinning that is fading to gray patina. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows scattered superficial marks and small impressions from handling and storage, with some scattered spots/areas of a darker added varnish. Crate exhibits general overall age related wear, as well as scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise appears to remain sound. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection. (25-6504/MLW).
